Northern Michigan Veterans Haven is a Michigan-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by retired U.S. Army veteran Scott Lucas and a dedicated group of fellow veterans.
Our mission is to create a peaceful destination in Northern Michigan where veterans and their families can relax, reconnect, and create lasting memories together.
We are still in the early stages of building this vision, but every donation, volunteer, shared post, and Founding Supporter brings us one step closer to creating a place veterans can truly call home.
Meet Our Founder
My Story
Scott Lucas, Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (E-7)
I served in the United States Army and later in the Michigan Army National Guard. Like many veterans, my toughest battles began after I came home.
Following my military service, I faced chronic pain, dependence on prescription pain medication, years of blackout seizures, and ultimately the loss of my civilian career. During that time, I experienced the hopelessness that far too many veterans know all too well.
But my story didn't end there.
Those experiences inspired me, along with a dedicated group of fellow veterans, to create Northern Michigan Veterans Haven—a place where veterans and their families can reconnect, find community, and create lasting memories together.
Today, we are still in the early stages of building this vision, but we are committed to seeing it through. With the support of our community, donors, volunteers, and fellow veterans, we believe we can build a place that future generations of veterans will proudly call home.
